FIRE SCRIPTURE: Leviticus 20:6; 1 Samuel 28:5-15 (KJV)
Leviticus 20:6;
6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
1 Samuel 28:5-15;
5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
6 And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10 And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

The MESSAGE:
Our focus in today’s devotional centres on certain costly mistakes, which you must avoid.
Let me share the story of Brother Paul with you. Brother Paul was once a terrible occultist. He was so powerful in it that he had three birds living inside his stomach. God touched him and he gave his life to the Lord. He went in for deliverance but forgot that he had swallowed three birds while he was still an occult practitioner. As soon as he started to pray fire prayers, the birds that were inside him became troubled as a result of the fire which they were not used to. So they started pecking at his intestine. It got so bad that he had to go in for a comprehensive surgical operation. God miraculously healed him and gave him new intestines.
There is also the story of a sister who felt that her husband no longer loved her and that her marriage to the man was on the brink of collapse. So, she went to a witch doctor who promised to solve her problem. The man invited her and gave her water to drink from a container which had electric fish. Shocked as the lady was, she went ahead and drank the water. But afterwards, her husband ordered her to pack out of his house. She lost her marriage to the evil water that she drank.
Why is it that people receive gift from below and neglect gifts from above?
It is because lots of lives have unprofitable seeds in them. We went to a particular place where we saw a man beating his children. On enquiry, we found out that he had to do that because his children were smoking paper. The irony of the situation was that, the man himself was a chain-smoker who used to send the same children to buy cigarettes for him. While he kept on doing that, he did not realise that he was planting evil seeds in the lives of his children.
Beloved, you must resolutely avoid seeking help from dark powers. Familiar spirits and wizards must be avoided.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- Thank the Lord because this is your season of dumbfounding miracles.
- O God arise and speak healing and creative miracles into my life, in the name of Jesus.
- My organs, receive creative miracles, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
- My Father, arise by Your signs and wonders and visit my life, in the name of Jesus.
- Like the rising of the sun, O God of wonders, arise in my life, in the name of Jesus.
- God of signs and wonders, you are the heavenly surgeon, touch me by Your power, in the name of Jesus.
- Let the wonder-working power of God be released on my situation for signs and wonders, in the name of Jesus.
