BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Corinthians 1-4
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 17:38-46 (KJV)
38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

The MESSAGE:
Any moment spent in God’s presence is an opportunity for uncommon divine visitation. Today’s devotional will grant you an audience with the King of kings and the Lord of lords. God cannot be deceived. He has the ability to detect the smallest act of deception. No matter how hard we may try to hide anything, God’s all-seeing eyes will detect it.

When I was in junior school, I was taught a song that says, “Break down every idol in your heart.” I could not understand it because I thought it was not possible, since I was a Christian; and we did not worship idols in our house. My idea of an idol was a carved head of Ogun (the god of thunder) or any other graven image. But as I got mature, I began to understand what the Lord means by breaking down the idols in our hearts. The Bible says, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). When the heart is filled up, it would pour out through the mouth
Those who are talkatives most of the time speak from their hearts and not from their brains. That which a person has in his heart will eventually come out.
Sometime ago, I was counselling a couple. The wife said something and the man got angry and said that the god of iron should break the head of her father. I said, “But you are a Christian, why are you talking like that?” He said he was sorry. The truth is that, that was how his heart was working. You may try to hide, but a time is coming when you will be exposed. The Bible says that everything is naked before God. All fornicators and adulterers are naked before God like images on television set. Do not join the company of those who have forgotten the name of God and begin to stretch hands unto strange gods. Beloved, God knows the secrets of your heart. So, He can easily find you out.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- Let signs and wonders appear in my life, in the name of Jesus.
- Holy Ghost fire, visit me with Your signs and wonders, in the name of Jesus.
- I decree by fire and thunder that I shall not die before the manifestation of my miracles, in Jesus’ name.
EVENING
- Oh God, arise and hear me in the day of trouble, in the name of Jesus.
- Oh Lord, I run into Your name that is a strong tower, in the name of Jesus.
- Oh Lord, let all my stubborn problems be buried, in the name of Jesus.
- I shall not die because of my problems, in the name of Jesus.
