TOPIC: Encounter At Peniel (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 2 August 2019)

The MESSAGE:
Many of us have fleshly, stubborn and sinful dispositions which have been dominating our lives. These dispositions sometime stand at the very core of our lives and they become strongholds of demonic activities. Most times, we do not even notice them. But God, in His lovingkindness, provides many opportunities in which these natural flaws are exposed.

When this hapoenss, you will realise how ugly, evil and filthy this disposition is. What you have been boasting about, what you have glorified in and taken satisfaction in, and what you have considered excellent and superior will now be under the shining of God’s light and found to be nothing but the fleshly life, which is filthy, corruption-based and despicable. This is when the light ‘touched’ you, and this is the meaning of Peniel. God shows you that the very things that you once boasted in, the things you considered admirable, and you were proud of, are the very expressions of the fleshly life. When God touches your life in this way, you become weakened.
It is difficult to find one Christian who does not have his natural life lurking behind his boasts. Therefore, you have to be practically careful about your boasts. The things that you boast in are often the very things that God will deal with. Perhaps these very things are the hollow of your thigh. God will shine on you and touch the hollow of your thigh. When He touches this spot, you will become very ashamed and say, “How could I have made my greatest shame my glory?”
Once we are enlightened by God’s light, most of the things we once considered to be good, glorious and outstanding will become shameful and foolish things. The light of God will give us a mortal blow that will sap us all our fleshly strength.
Beloved, you need an encounter with God. When you have an encounter with God, like Jacob, you will see yourself for who you really are. You will see all that are ugly and base in your life. You will see all the pretense and sham in your Christian service and wonder how you could have considered them your glory and virtues. When this happens, God will touch you. When the light of the Lord touches you, all the struggling and jostling for relevance and church positions will stop in your life. You will do all things with Christ-centredness and with a supernatural grace that ‘transcends all understanding’. The question therefore is: “Are you ready for a Peniel encounter with the Lord?”

- O Lord my Father, bless me to a dumbfounding degree, in the name of Jesus.
- Every power shielding me from breakthrough, fall down and die, in the name of Jesus.
