TOPIC: Defend Your Territory (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 22 November 2019)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 18-19; James 4
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 10:3-6
MEMORY VERSE: “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” – 1 Timothy 6:12
The MESSAGE:
We are called and equipped as soldiers for Christ. Paul in his message to the people of Ephesus made it clear that we have an enemy. Our enemies are not physical humans but principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). The same goes for weapons of war, which he described as not carnal but mighty through God (2 Corinthians 10:3-6). This goes to confirm why Paul kept reminding Timothy of the need to fight the fight of faith.

What is this fight of faith? It is the spiritual warfare to defend your territory, contend for your faith and be victorious over the powers of darkness that rule the world and would want that all men remain in bondage to satan. This battle however has rules, and the rules of the game should be strictly adhered to, if you must win and receive a crown of righteousness like Paul.
This battle of offense and defence cannot be fought in your might and power. You need to be divinely enabled and empowered by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8, Ephesians 6:10). Hear the Psalmist in Psalm 24:7-10. The Captain of our host is the Almighty Himself, the Man of war and the Lord of hosts. You must be a dedicated and committed soldier, with unflinching loyalty and faithfulness to the Master.
You must put on your spiritual armour, Ephesians 6:11, 13-14. This is our heavenly customized uniform as Christian soldiers. No wonder, David couldn’t confront Goliath with a strange human armour. He pleaded with King Saul to go in the might of God, empowered by his sling and the little stones. What a humble, uncommon but fierce weapon that brought the giant down to his death! Just one stone out of five performed what spears and guns, arrows and daggers couldn’t do. That is the awesome power of our God, when you are ready to go to war with His might and not in your own power. Remember, without Him, on our own we can do nothing. But with Him, one Christian is a mighty army!
The pieces of the armour are quite unique, the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the shoes for the gospel of peace, the shield of faith on the left hand for defence against the fiery darts of the enemy. Finally, the only offensive weapon, is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Amazingly, there is no weapon for the back. This means, you are never expected to turn your back on the enemy. You are to confront and put their host to flight and not to run away in fear. Even as we are armed with the weapon of different kinds of prayers.
Fellow warrior, can you be confident and bold enough to put on this armour?
God is asking for a genuinely saved Christian, righteous and honest, a proclaimer of the good news, spreading the word of salvation wherever he goes. And your faith? Is it strong enough to withstand and send back their fiery darts? How sharp is your spiritual sword?
Again, do you know what word with which to confront the adversary? The Bible calls it, “a double edged sword”. Beloved, you cannot afford to have a blunt or broken sword. It must be sharp enough to touch the blood of the wicked. It is the sword of God in your hand!
Arise, soldier of Christ! Hear the battle cry! Get ready to defend your faith. Satan is not our friend, knowing that you are for Jesus. He is a contender, you must be ready to defend your territory and refuse to be terrified by this enemy of our soul.
Are you ready? God is also ready to be at your rear, where you have no piece of the armour. You shall stand victorious after all, in Jesus’ name.

MORNING
1 O God, damage my ignorance about spiritual warfare, in the name of Jesus.
2 I put on the whole armour of faith by fire, in the name of Jesus.
3 O Lord, make me a great soldier in Your army, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
4 Father, let my sword touch blood, in the name of Jesus.
5 I take territories for Jesus by fire, in the name of Jesus.
6 O Lord, enlarge my coast by fire, in the name of Jesus.
7 O Lord, make me Your battle axe and weapon of war, in the name of Jesus.
