TOPIC: The Spirit Of Kadesh-Barnea (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 7 September 2019)

The MESSAGE:
The children of Israel began their journey to the Promised Land from Horeb through Mount Seir to Kadesh-Barnea. This journey took them eleven days. The journey went well for eleven days until they got to Kadesh-Barnea and it was punctuated. So many things went wrong with the children of Israel and Moses; their leader at Kadesh-Barnea. The ministries of both Aaron and Moses were terminated at Kadesh-Barnea. The spirit of Kadesh-Barnea wastes efforts, lives and ministries. It is destructive, unprofitable, counter-productive because it births sin. It is the spirit of error, delay and prolonged battle. Once the children of Israel got to Kadesh-Barnea, the spirit of the place began to control them negatively.

The spirit of Kadesh-Barnea caused several problems for the children of Israel and made many of those who began the journey not to get to the Promised Land. It was at Kadesh-Barnea that contradictory reports came when Moses, upon God’s instruction, sent spies to Canaan (Numbers 13:26-32). Before they got to Kadesh-Barnea, the children of Israel had very strong and unwavering faith in the ability of their God to deliver to the uttermost and to do all things for them. They had witnessed His omnipotence, abiding presence and wonders when they crossed the Red Sea on dry ground and their enemies sank like lead in the same sea. However, at Kadesh-Barnea, the faith of many of them began to fail. Ten out of the twelve spies gave negative reports which spread and caused unbelief as well as grasshopper mentality in the camp of Israel. This made God unhappy with many of them. So, the rebellion of unbelief took stronghold in Kadesh-Barnea (Numbers 14:1). Similarly, it was at Kadesh-Barnea that God took the decision to destroy Israel (Numbers 14:11). Israel also lost the opportunity to enter the Promised Land at Kadesh-Barnea (Numbers 14:20-23).
Apart from the foregoing, the children of Israel took a wrong decision of war at Kadesh-Barnea and they were defeated for the first time at Kadesh-Barnea (Numbers 14:39-45). In Numbers 12, the Bible reveals that Moses’ marriage to the Ethiopian woman (a mistake on his part), took place at Kadesh-Barnea. All these show that the spirit of Kadesh-Barnea is a terrible and satanic spirit. Under its influence, the children of Israel, including their leaders; Moses and Aaron, made many mistakes, moved away from God and incurred God’s wrath and fierce judgement. At Kadesh-Barnea, the faith of many of the Israelites failed and their hope to get to the Promised Land was dashed.
Beloved, Kadesh-Barnea is a place of sin and error. Today, the spirit of Kadesh-Barnea lures people into sin and error. It does not want anybody to make heaven. As a believer, if you fall into sin or error, quickly go to God, confess your sin, accept God’s pardon and turn completely away from the sin. Don’t stay permanently in Kadesh-Barnea. Confessing and turning away from sin is moving away from Kadesh-Barnea. The spirit of Kadesh-Barnea punctuates and terminates the glorious and smooth journey of destiny. I encourage you to address that spirit in your life today. The ship of your salvation will not be shipwrecked and your destiny will not be truncated. Your Christian journey will lead you to heaven. Arise and pray the spirit of Kadesh-Barnea out of your life today. I shall see you in heaven, in Jesus’ name.
