FIRE SCRIPTURE: Judges 6:1-6 (KJV)
1 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
2 And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
3 And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
4 And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:
We are going further today on the topic “Deliverance from the Waster”. In our Fire Scripture for today, once again, God’s people turned to the religious practices learned from the Canaanites. As a result, for seven years, God allowed the Midianites, assisted by the Amalekites and tribes from the east, to invade and oppress Israel (Judges 6:3). As a result of this, they were forced to hide in caves and covens with their crops and work animals. In verse 4, the Bible says that the Midianites encamped against the Israelites and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza. As a result of this, Israel was greatly impoverished. They suffered because the wasters came and wasted all that they had worked for.

Dearly Beloved, Israel brought the attacks of the wasters on themselves. There is no hardship or problem that does not have an expiry date, especially once the right thing is done. The Israelites cried to God in repentance and soberness. The Bible says they turned to God for help after all else had failed. They were desperate. Sadly, Beloved, it takes difficulties to get mankind to depend on God. The main problem of Israel was lack of faith in God. Satisfying self became their focus. They looked to God only in times of crisis, when nothing or no one else could help them.
As followers of Christ, we have an equal responsibility to closely examine the basis of our love for God. Is it genuine? Do we truly appreciate God for who He is and what He has done for us? If we relegate God to the background, the enemy will have an opportunity to attack us. The first way to be delivered from the waster is to realise our fault and come back to God. That was what the Israelites did and God raised a helper in Gideon for their deliverance. Therefore, Beloved, for you to win the war against the waster, you must confess and forsake all known sins and turn to righteousness. Then, God will arise for you and all your enemies, including the wasters, will be scattered.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- Father, by Your mercy, forgive me any sin that has given waster access and foothold in my life, in the Name of Jesus.
- I break any covenant binding me to wasters, by the power in the blood of Jesus, in the Name of Jesus.
- By the power in the blood of Jesus, I shut the door of my life to the wasters, in the Name of Jesus.
EVENING
- O God, deliver me and my family from the attack of the wasters, in the Name of Jesus.
- I cover my life with the blood of Jesus and shield it from the invasion of wasters, in the Name of Jesus.
- Agenda of the wasters in my life, be aborted now, in the Name of Jesus.
- Father, by Your mercy, restore to me all that the wasters have wasted in my life, in the Name of Jesus.
