TOPIC: Be A Positive Influence To Your World (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Wednesday, 22 August 2018)
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:13-16
MEMORY VERSE: “And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also.” – Acts 17:6
The MESSAGE:
You can only make a difference in this world when you become a dedicated Christian. Our society is not a friend of God or a friend to God’s people. So, whether we like it or not, there is constant conflict between the world and us, the Christians. This is because we are not of the world and we have different attitudes and values. As we read the Beatitudes, we find that they represent an outlook radically different from that of the world. The world wants pride, not humility. The world endorses sin, especially if you get away with it. The world is at war with God, while God is seeking to reconcile with the world. We must expect to be persecuted if we are living as God wants us to live. But we must be sure that our suffering is not due to our own foolishness or disobedience. The believer can influence the world by what he is, not by what he has. The believer’s very presence in the world acts as salt and light, preventing corruption and exposing error. The believer is blessed because he has God’s nature within and he is no longer a fornicator, nor idolater, nor adulterer, nor effeminate, nor abuser of himself with mankind, nor thief, nor covetous, nor drunkard, nor reviler, nor extortionist. Rather, he is washed, sanctified, justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. Indeed, he is a peculiar person who is observed by unbelievers as different from them.
Having obtained peace with God through Christ, the believer is more fulfilled than if he had all the world as his possession. Unbelievers are amazed at the believers’ contentment despite poverty and physical suffering. It may even cause them to see their own lack of spiritual security in spite of worldly prosperity (Revelation 3:17).
Christians must interact with this world of corruption and darkness in order to act as salt and light. Just as salt is derived from the earth, so every believer is to remember that he is of this earth but, united in Christ, he becomes free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). Therefore, he acts as a preservative in the decaying world around him. Should he lose his Christ-likeness, his savour, he would no longer be of any use. Likewise, the believer is light, because Christ is the light of the world (John 8:12). He can only reflect Christ’s light. The believer should let his light shine before men, that they may see his good works and glorify God. One day, the entire universe will be completely transformed by Christ. The believer’s life should manifest the beginning of that transformation.

THE BELIEVER CAN INFLUENCE THE WORLD BY WHAT HE IS, NOT BY WHAT HE HAS.

You will not lose your savour (Christ-likeness).

MORNING
1. Spirit of excellence, come upon my life now, in the name of Jesus.
2. Lord, let my light shine unhindered, in the name of Jesus.
3. Glory of God, fill me to overflowing, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
4. I shall not conform to this world, in the name of Jesus.
5. Holy Spirit, engineer me for great revival in my generation, in the name of Jesus.
6. I shall not die without making significant impact, in the name of Jesus.
7. Cage of works of the flesh, be shattered to pieces in my life, in the name of Jesus.
