TOPIC: Praying In Tongues (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Thursday, 29 March 2018)
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 14:2-5
MEMORY VERSE:
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”- Ephesians 6:18
The MESSAGE:
Praying in tongues is interpreted in the Scripture as praying in the Spirit because it is the Holy Spirit that gave the early apostles utterances on the day of Pentecost. He is still pouring His fullness into every believer that desires Him. Speaking in tongues is the utterance of the Holy Spirit, not human knowledge or understanding. It is the declaration of the mysteries of God which human knowledge cannot fathom. Praying in the Spirit is a very intense spiritual exercise, which most Christians overlook because they think it is a glorified experience, which is rarely needed. Some who do understand the potency ignore it and those who are willing to receive it are not ready to pay the price. When the Holy Ghost came upon the Apostles, in Acts 2:4, they all spoke in tongues. Speaking in tongues confuses the enemy, it strengthens the spirit man, and it opens the way for the Holy Ghost to operate. It helps to subdue the power of the flesh and stirs up the Spirit of God in us.
When you ask some Christians the last time they prayed in tongues, they will tell you the day they received the Holy Spirit, or even say it is not a compulsory exercise, as long as one is born again. Apostle Paul didn’t say, “I spoke with tongues more than ye all.” He said, “I speak with tongues more than ye all” (1 Corinthians 14:18). He did it all the time. You should pray in tongues always because: it assists in the worship of God, it helps you to pray in line with God’s perfect will, it is for spiritual edification, it stimulates faith, it enables you to pray for the unknown and it helps you to stay away from worldly contaminations.
One particular night, I spoke in tongue without uttering a familiar word as the Holy Spirit gave me utterance. When I stopped, I started seeing visions and getting instructions from God. Most times when I pray at night after exhausting all prayer points, I will change gear and begin to pray in the Spirit. Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit. As believers what we have to do is to ask God for this gift and it will be ours. It is an evidence of the manifestation and empowerment of God in our lives as Christians (Acts 10:44). It opens the door to the secret room of God. Those who practice it constantly have access to classified information of God concerning their life. Therefore, as Christians, we must diligently seek the empowerment of the Holy Ghost and the evidence of speaking in tongues, for when we speak in tongues we communicate with God directly and not even the devil can understand us.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
When we pray in tongues, you are confusing the camp of the enemy.
PROPHETIC WORD:
The power to confound the language of your enemies shall come upon you today.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
1. Lord Jesus, bestow upon my life, the tongues of fire, in the name of Jesus.
2. Holy Ghost and fire, fill my spirit, soul and body, in the name of Jesus.
3. Lord Jesus, touch my tongue with your coal of fire, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
4. Ability to pray in the Spirit, overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
5. Blood of Jesus, purge my tongue of spiritual filth, in the name of Jesus.
6. Lord Jesus, connect me to the tongues of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus.
7. O Lord, edify and strengthen me in the inner man as I speak in tongues, in the name of Jesus.
