BIBLE PASSAGE: John 14:1-13
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
INTRODUCTION: One of the oldest and most common questions in life today is “What is the way out.” When Men are at crossroads, they usually ask of the Way Out. Your crossroad today is known to you, it could be financial, spiritual, academic, marital, health, career, etc. Whatever represents your crossroad, there are usually many ways opened to you but ONLY ONE LEADS YOU to your ultimate destination/solution. In John 14:6; “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”, the King of kings, the Saviour and the Redeemer of the World, says He is the genuine Way among other counterfeit ways before you. Will you choose the way of Christ today?
MEMORY VERSE: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
TEXT REVIEW: John 14:1-13
i. Jesus Christ is the Way to God
ii. Jesus is the pathfinder, he has gone to prepare a place for us.
iii. Wherever the Way leads we are to go.
iv. The Way and Father are One.
v. Whatever is asked in the name of Jesus, that the Father will do.
LESSON OUTLINE
There are usually many ways opened to men especially crossroads:
• The way of carnality where all that matters is satisfying the flesh.
• The way of neutrality/free thinker. Here their understanding is that doing good is enough to make heaven.
• The way of hell fire. Those taking it, know it, yet they want to deceive others into their camp.
• The way of idol worshipping with variety of foreign and traditional religion. All involving worshipping of lesser gods and lords.
• The Churches named after Satan that are now holding services and they have members.
But only one leads to your fulfillment and destiny:
• Jesus is the ONLY WAY, surrender to Him now. John 14:6
• You must seek His kingdom first. Matthew 6:33.
• You must obey His instructions. Proverbs 19:21
• You are assured of eternal and everlasting rest and joy. Rev. 3:21.
SUMMARY: Jesus is the Super Door. John 10:9. He is the GENUINE WAY; Jn 14:6. He is the door and way out of the situation you are in now. But He wants you to discard every other door, follow Him and He will make you fulfill your destiny. Seek ye first the Master door- JESUS CHRIST. Rev. 3:20; John 3:16; Matt. 11:28-30
CONCLUSION: The true meaning of Jesus’ statement “I am the Way……” in John 14:6 is that there is no other way, every other way is counterfeit. Acts 4:29; John 10:9. No matter what you face today, the way, answer and solution is in Jesus Christ. He is all in all, Colossians 1:15-19
ASSIGNMENT: Ask in prayer whatever burden that requires divine intervention and share with another member how the Father intervened.
PRAYER POINTS
- Almighty Father, thank you for sending Jesus Christ to the world to reconcile us back to you.
- Father, every evil way asking for my attention, let them be shut permanently from today.
- Father, you converted Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9:3-5) to a renowned evangelist, in the name of Jesus, touch those persecuting your Church in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
- Father, please up at every crossroad faced by Pastors and spiritual Leaders in Jesus’ name.
- Father,please re-direct everyone that is on the way to destruction in our House Fellowship Centres and Parishes.
GOLDEN THE FOR THE WEEK
MONDAY: Isaiah 43:10; 1 Samuel 17:38-40; Psalms 20:7-8. Human knowledge and philosophies have opened doors to human problems, how lasting are these doors, are they reducing or multiplying tension or not.
TUESDAY: Matthew 7:13. Man is on a race parallel with God. Are you on that path?
WEDNESDAY: Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6 Man keeps changing his ways to suit himself but God has never changed at least once.
THURSDAY: Prov. 14:12. A way seems right and satisfactory to you today, what is at the end of that journey, if it is not in tandem with the Way of Jesus, better turn back to Him before it is too late.
FRIDAY: Matt. 6:33. Until you seek first the Kingdom, all others may not be opened to you.
SATURDAY: John 10:1, Lord redirect the path of all our House Fellowship Centres that are not in your path, in Jesus’ name.
SUNDAY: John 14:6; John 18:8. Everyone wants life, whenever you ask, but Jesus is the only way when you find out.
