Jesus is the wisdom and power of God yet, He went through self-development. Your being born again does not mean that things will be automatic.
In Luke 2:40 – And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
To develop means growing up gradually. It also means becoming larger, mature, advanced or organized. In order to move forward and be productive, you must develop yourself because using a blunt iron for a job requires more strength to get the job done. It is through development that you can maximize the wisdom of God within you. The wisdom of God is Christ Himself within you.
Philippians 2:12b – …work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
You have been given, so you have to work it out. You must grow spiritually and mentally.

2 Timothy 2:15 – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
To develop spiritually, you are required to study and develop yourself. Never allow your work for God interrupt your walk with God because your walk with God is your spiritual build up and it is the most vital. It supersedes working for God. Walking with God is paying attention to the word of God. In spiritual development, two keys a very important: the Word and prayer.
In Luke 10:38-42, Martha was busy working for God but Jesus said pointed out that Mary had chosen the good part (to walk with Him). You need to give priority to the Word of God before you can have knowledge of His personality and be able to communicate with Him in prayers. Be a word addict.
Proverbs 19:2 – Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
Many believers are developed spiritually but lack mental development. This is very important. The scripture says that it is not good for the soul to be without knowledge (your soul is your mind). Pursue knowledge by laying hold on relevant books and messages from renowned authors to build your mental capacity. Desire and pursue mental development.
Daniel was blessed with the spirit of wisdom but he learnt the secret of stirring up that gift by reading books. The Bible said ‘I Daniel understood by books…” That God has given you wisdom is not enough; you have to read. See every problem that confronts you as an opportunity for mental development. Anytime you are confronted with any issue, settle down, think through, and look for books that speak in that direction. If it is finance, gather materials on it and read and develop your mind on how to walk out of that financial challenge.
To keep reading is the easiest way to stir up the gifts of God in you. Reading makes you to be informed. Jesus developed Himself; the Bible said that they marveled when they saw Him teaching. So if you did not have the opportunity to attend school, now that you are born again, develop yourself. Self-development is what brings outstanding success. Enlarge your mental capacity.
Developing yourself does not need prayer; it needs decision and investment in knowledge. Listen to tapes, watch videos, read books and articles in Develop yourself and have wisdom. As you obey God’s word, you will experience a new beginning in Jesus name – Amen!
