MEMORISE: Rejoice evermore. 1 Thessalonians 5:16

READ: Philippians 4:6-7

  1. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
  2. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 45-46, 2 Peter 3:1-18

MESSAGE:

Many years ago, on a particular day, I was angry that my goals for the previous year weren’t achieved. I grumbled about the things I didn’t have and questioned God. I couldn’t even think of one thing to be grateful for. Suddenly God spoke; He asked me to pick up a pen and paper and we started a Father and son conversation. He said, How many times did you wake up last year? For 365 days, I replied. Do you know some people died in their sleep and couldn’t wake up? He asked. Secondly, how many times did you drive on the expressway to and fro safely? I replied Every time. He asked again, Didn’t you see a lot of accidents on the way? That means many people left their homes but never returned there. After ten minutes of question and answer session, the paper was full and I apologized to God for my ingratitude. A preacher once said, If you are ungrateful, you are a great fool.

My dear, stop dwelling on what you haven’t achieved, what you don’t have, your parents mistakes, your inabilities or delayed victories. Start thanking God for your body parts that are functioning properly, your past victories and His promises concerning your life.

ACTION POINT
Praise God in a quiet place for 30 minutes today.

HYMN: BE GLAD IN THE LORD

  1. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
    All ye that are upright in heart;
    And ye that have made
    Him your choice,
    Bid sadness and sorrow depart.

CHORUS
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!

  1. Be joyful for He is the Lord,
    On earth and in Heaven supreme;
    He fashions and rules
    by His word; The “Mighty” and “Strong”
    to redeem.
  2. What though in the conflict
    for right
    Your enemies almost prevail,
    God’s armies, just hid
    from your sight,
    Are more than the foes
    which assail.
  3. Though darkness surround
    you by day,
    Your sky by the night
    be o’ercast,
    Let nothing your spirit dismay,
    But trust till the danger is past.
  4. Be glad in the Lord
    and rejoice,
    His praises proclaiming
    in song;
    With harp, and with
    organ and voice,
    The loud hallelujahs prolong!
