READ: Philippians 2:9-11

  1. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
  2. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
  3. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: John 5:25-47, 2 Kings 12-14

MESSAGE:

A host is a group or army with powers to assist/defend a nation or a people. Our Bible reading explains that there is a host in Heaven, on earth, underneath the earth and even in Hell. All these hosts are under the authority of the Grand Commander known as the Lord of hosts – Jesus Christ.

He has the dominion over the whole universe in all its battalions and sections.

It is interesting to know that as a child of God, you are a co-heir to the Grand Commander of the hosts. I remember an incident from many years ago; I was running late for a programme in Lagos, Nigeria. The traffic on that route was difficult to navigate and I cried to God to help me clear the road so that I could make my appointment in time. In a matter of minutes, a mad man stood at the centre of the road, directing different cars to the right and to the left.

When the road cleared a bit, he slapped his palm on my cars hood and beckoned to the driver to drive towards him. Once we got to him, he saluted me and gave a bow. We then drove through the route he cleared for us. The Lord of hosts can command anything or anyone to work in the favour of His children.

PRAYER POINT

Lord of hosts, please command everything in Heaven and on earth to begin to work for my good, in Jesus name.

HYMN: Now We Thank We All Our God

  1. Now thank we all our God
    with heart and hands and voices,
    Who wondrous things hath done,
    in whom His world rejoices;
    Who from our mothers’ arms
    hath blessed us on our way
    with countless gifts of love,
    and still is ours today.
  2. O may this bounteous God
    through all our life be near us,
    with ever joyful hearts
    and blessed peace to cheer us,
    to keep us in His grace,
    and guide us when perplexed,
    and free us from all ills
    of this world and the next.
  3. All praise and thanks to God
    the Father now be given,
    the Son and Him who reigns
    With them in highest heaven
    the One Eternal God,
    whom heaven and earth adore;
    for thus it was, is now,
    and shall be evermore.
