BIBLE READING: Psalms 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
MESSAGE:
A popular adage says, “Show me your friend, and I will tell you who you are.” This is true because, no matter how spiritual you are, if you move with sinners, they will pull you back and drain your spiritual energy. Before I became born again, I had friends with whom I drank alcohol, but when I met Christ, my lifestyle changed. One time, my friends visited me and were expecting to be served alcohol as usual, but I served them nonalcoholic drinks, and with time, they all withdrew from me. They realised that I had become different, so they all left me. Losing them was painful at the time, but I let them go so that they wouldn’t drag me back into the world.
My dear child, you need to let go of any sinful and worldly friends that may be in your life, and allow God to replace them with godly friends – brothers and sisters in Christ who will help you in your walk with God, draw you closer to Him, challenge you to pursue your dreams, pray for you when you are down, and make positive impact in your life. It is important to note, however, that Jesus is the best friend any human being can have; therefore, you should make Him the standard for all your friendships.
REFLECTION:
Are your friends drawing you closer to God or pushing you away from Him?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

HYMN 55 – Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose
1 Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose;
Hear Thy Guardian Angel Say,
“Thou Art In The Midst Of Foes:
Watch And Pray!”
2 Principalities And Powers,
Mustering Their Unseen Array,
Wait For Thy Unguarded Hours:
“Watch And Pray.”
3 Gird Thy Heavenly Armour On;
Wear It Every Night And Day
Ambush’d Lies The Evil One:
“Watch And Pray.”
4 Hear The Victors Who O’ercame;
Still They Mark Each Warrior’s Way;
All With One Sweet Voice Exclaim,
“Watch And Pray!”
5 Hear, Above AlI, Hear Thy Lord,
Him Thou Lovest To Obey;
Hide Within Thy Heart His Word:
“Watch And Pra!.”
6 Watch, As If On That Alone
Hung The Issue Of The Day;
Pray, That Help May Be Sent Down:
Watch And Pray.
