BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 19:21-41, Psalms 19-21

MESSAGE:

True freedom is in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The freedom that Jesus gives is all-embracing; most importantly, it frees from sin. Jesus came to save you from your sins, so, what is that evil habit or vice that the constitution of the country you live in has given you the freedom to practise such as drugs, abortion, homosexuality et cetera? When we were younger, we thought the best way to forget ones problems was by drinking to a stupor only to realize that the sorrow continues when you become lucid.

The only person who can give lasting joy or freedom is the Lord Jesus Christ. Please accept His invitation today, confess your sins and decide not to return to them. Thereafter, take practical steps towards putting an end to that habit by replacing the object of sin. For instance, buy more fruits and vegetables so that when the urge for drugs comes, you would feast on the fruits instead. Load your phone with gospel songs so that when you feel like watching porn, you can switch to music. Lastly, have an accountability partner that you can talk to about your struggles so that he/she can take it upon himself/herself to pray for you and follow you up on your daily activities.

ACTION POINT:

List the vices you commit and two practical ways to stop each. Prayerfully actualize them.

HYMN: In Christ Alone

  1. In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
    This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
  2. In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
  3. There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of
  4. No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
    Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
