READ: Psalms 41:1-3

  1. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
  2. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
  3. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Romans 16:1-27, Psalms 109-111

MESSAGE:

One way to touch God’s heart or make Him remember you always is by giving to the poor. Proverbs 19:17 says:

“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.”

God does not owe anyone, so if the Bible says that you should lend to the Lord by helping the poor fellow around you, rest assured that He will repay your good deeds. The problem with many children of God is that they usually expect payback from those they’ve given to. They complain that the people they’ve helped or given to don’t help or give back to them.

Let your acts of benevolence be done in faith and towards God alone. Even if no one appreciates you, be sure that the seed will be remembered by God Himself someday. This week, identify at least two people in your school, office or Church who are in dire need of material things, money, food, prayers or care and be a blessing to them.

KEY POINT:

You may not reap where you sow but you will definitely reap what you sow.

HYMN: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing

  1. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    Sent from the Saviour above.

CHORUS
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

  1. “There shall be showers of
    blessing,”
    Precious reviving again;
    Over the hills and the valleys,
    Sound of abundance of rain.
  2. “There shall be showers of blessing;”
    Send them upon us, Oh Lord;
    Grant to us now a refreshing,
    Come and now honour Thy Word.
  3. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    Oh, that today they might fall,
    Now as to God we’re confessing,
    Now as on Jesus we call!
  4. “There shall be showers of blessing,”
    If we but trust and obey;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    If we let God have His way.
