BIBLE READING: Mark 14:34-38
38 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
MESSAGE:
Today’s memory verse is one of the warnings in the Bible that believers need to take seriously in order to survive in this dangerous and deceptive world. To be watchful means to be alert, attentive, and cautious. Watchfulness requires being sober and careful. You need to be watchful in your Walk with God so you Won’t fall into sin.
When a child of God is not watchful, his or her flesh begins to manifest, and this can lead to vices like pride, immorality, rebellion, disobedience, self-righteousness, and worldliness. These vices do not appear overnight; they develop as a result of carelessness. Therefore, it is important for believers to watch and pray in order to avoid falling into temptation that births sin.
My dear child, be watchful. Do not give the devil a chance to strike and lead you into sin. The Bible admonishes that you should work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).
Quiz: What does it mean to be watchful as a Christian?
REFLECTION:
Are there areas in your life where you need to be more watchful.

HYMN 27 – What A Friend We Have In Jesus
1 What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there
