TOPIC: Say ‘No To Depression/Suicide (Open Heaven for Teens, 2 May 2026)
MEMORISE: The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalms 34:18
BIBLE READING: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
MESSAGE:
Recent happenings in society have shown that one of the major issues that is prevalent among young people is depression, which may later lead to suicide. Interestingly, depression is not a new phenomenon. For example, in the Bible, David, at different points in his life, expressed great despair and sorrow (Psalm 22, 13:1-4, 6:6). However, he never allowed himself to be pushed to the point of ending his life. He always surrendered to God, and God always restored him (Psalm 25:1-2, 23:3).

No matter how difficult things may become in life, wallowing in depression or committing suicide can never be a solution. Instead of dwelling on pain, any believer who is feeling sorrowful or facing depression should pick up his or her Bible and search for God’s promises of hope and healing. Also, such a fellow should listen to gospel music and worship God wholeheartedly. Gradually, the presence of God will fill the heart of that fellow and eliminate every form of depression.
My dear child, if you are feeling Overwhelmed, don’t suffer in silence. Instead, reach out to your parents, pastor, or a godly counsellor who can pray with you and support you today.
KEY POINT:
Do not give in to sorrow or depression.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 9:31-50; Numbers 28-30
HYMN 66: Through The Love Of God Our Saviour
1 Through the love of God our Saviour,
All will be well;
Free and changeless is His favour,
All, all is well:
Precious is the blood that healed us;
Perfect is the grace that sealed us:
Strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,
All must be well.
2 Though we pass through tribulation,
All will be well;
Ours is such a full salvation,
All, all is well:
Happy still in God confiding;
Fruitful in Christ abiding;
Holy through the Spirit’s guiding:
All must be well.
3 We expect a bright tomorrow;
All will be well;
Faith can sing through days of Sorrow,
All, all is well:
On our Father’s love relying,
Jesus every need supplying,
Or in living or in dying,
All must be well.
