MEMORISE: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

READ: John 2:2-11

  1. And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
  2. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
  3. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
  4. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
  5. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
  6. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
  7. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
  8. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
  9. And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
  10. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 1-2, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, the hosts ran out of wine at the marriage feast and as soon as Mary intimated Jesus on the development, He swung into action by turning many pots of water into wine. Do you know that when the servants went to serve, it was still water but by the time it got to each guest, it had turned to wine? This is to say that your miracle lies in your obedience. Has God been laying it in your heart to do something for someone in your church or neighbourhood? Do it today. If you are not sure how to go about it, share your thoughts with an elderly Christian so that you can be guided.

Our memory verse establishes the unwavering nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. He doesn’t change His ways, words or behaviour to suit different situations like humans do. He always manifests as the Truth. Psalms 119:89 says Gods word is forever settled. This means that Gods words and principles are consistent and its only those who obey that will enjoy the blessings.

KEY POINT:

How willing are you to obey Him to the letter?

HYMNS: When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt nor a fear,
    Not a sigh nor a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief nor a loss,
    Not a frown nor a cross,
    But is blest if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
    Until all on the altar we lay,
    For the favour He shows,
    For the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do,
    Where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
