TOPIC: Humility Births Greatness (Open Heaven for Teens, 22 January 2026)
MEMORISE: Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10
BIBLE READING: James 4:6-10 (KJV)
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
MESSAGE:
As a child of God, you carry enormous grace and power within you to become great. However, whenever God speaks about greatness, He often ties it to humility. This shows that there is a direct relationship between greatness and humility.

My dear child, if you truly desire greatness, you must develop humility as a character. Today’s Bible reading clearly states that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. I remember when God told me that if I ever became proud, He would wipe me off the surface of the earth, and no one would remember my name. That warning humbled me, and today, no matter what God does through me, I ensure that I always give Him all the glory.
No matter how intelligent or talented a fellow is, or how wealthy his or her parents are, God is the only One who gives true promotion. Proverbs 22:4 affirms that humility is the fear of the Lord, and it brings riches, honour and life. Therefore, never think that you are self-sufficient and can do without God’s help.
KEY POINT:
Stay humble, and God will lift you higher than you ever imagined.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Matthew 15:21-39, Exodus 1-3
HYMN 10: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way
1 I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Chorus:
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2 My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3 I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4 I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”
