TOPIC – Build Godly Habits (Open Heaven for Teens, 23 October 2026)

MEMORISE: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2

BIBLE READING: 1 Timothy 4:7-8

7 But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

MESSAGE:

Just as physical fitness requires consistent effort, spiritual growth depends on cultivating godly habits. Today’s Bible reading compares physical training to spiritual training, which holds eternal value. As a child of God, you must identify and cultivate habits that will make you grow spiritually. These habits include consistent prayer, Bible study, and worship, and they are very important for any child of God to build a good foundation in God. Such habits will strengthen your faith and equip you to face life’s challenges without wavering. Therefore, treat your spiritual life like a gym. Practise godly habits so you can build godly character and grow your spiritual muscles.

My dear child, godly habits can sometimes be difficult to sustain when you are around people who do not believe in them. Therefore, you must stay connected to people who share the same mindset as you in building godly habits. As the adage says, “Show me your friend, and I will tell you who you are.”

KEY POINT:
Be intentional in building godly habits.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Luke 4:33-44; Joshua 14-15

HYMN 30: When We Walk With The Lord

1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
