READ: Matthew 13:7
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

Matthew 13:22
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Corinthians 7:25-40, Psalms 128-131

MESSAGE:

The third category of heart condition in relation to Gods word is those whose hearts are choked with many things. In fact, this category is the most common in the Church today. Christians in this category are fervent workers, punctual in services, known by all but not recognised by Heaven because they are filled with worldly desires and lusts.

They go to Church to show off their clothes. They fight for positions; they want to be the Head of a Department in the Church. They fight to be called “excos”. They just want to be noticed. They are busybodies doing nothing for God because they are more concerned with activities rather than true service and relationship with the Father. Thus, when the sermon is going on, they are busy somewhere. They have no time to patiently listen to Gods word, nor do they do personal Bible Study. There is no space for God’s word in their heart because it is occupied with activities.

Examine your life today and if you fall into this category, its not too late to repent.

KEY POINT:

Service in the workforce is good but relationship with the Father is better.

HYMN: I Am Thine O Lord

  1. I am Thine, O Lord,
    I have heard Thy voice,
    And it told Thy love to me;
    But I long to rise
    in the arms of faith
    And be closer drawn to Thee.

CHORUS
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer,
nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

  1. Consecrate me now to
    Thy service, Lord,
    By the pow’r of grace divine;
    Let my soul look up
    with a steadfast hope,
    And my will be lost in Thine.
  2. Oh, the pure delight
    of a single hour
    That before Thy throne I spend,
    When I kneel in prayer,
    and with Thee, my God
    I commune as friend with friend!
  3. There are depths of love
    that I cannot know
    Till I cross the narrow sea;
    There are heights of joy
    that I may not reach
    Till I rest in peace with Thee.
