TOPIC: Prevent Unpleasant Surprises [Open Heaven for Teens 26 March 2022]

MEMORISE: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 7:21

READ: Genesis 49:1-4

  1. And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
  2. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
  3. Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
  4. Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 5:1-53, Joshua 16-18

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, Jacob gathered his children and prophesied into their future based on how they had lived. Reuben expected a double portion of his father’s blessings as the firstborn, rather he got cursed. I decree that every curse upon your life is broken today in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Reuben got cursed as a result of the extra-marital affair he had with his father’s wife which he thought no one knew about, whereas he could have been blessed if he had repented and asked his father for forgiveness.

Don’t be caught in a web of accumulated wrongs. Living a life of secret sin is very dangerous. You may think no one sees you, but God does. Is there someone you hurt deeply in the past with your words, actions or reactions? It’s time to give him/her a call and apologise. You may have asked for forgiveness from God, but you need to make peace with the fellow because Hebrews 12:14 says:

“Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man can see the Lord:”

ACTION POINT:
Today, deal with any hidden sin that can hinder a beautiful relationship with anyone in the future or your eternity with God.

HYMN 15: Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus
    Ye soldiers of the cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    the trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    against unnumbered foes;
    let courage rise with danger,
    and strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    stand in his strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    where duty calls, or danger,
    be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The strife will not be long;
    this day the noise of battle,
    the next the victor’s song:
    to him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    shall reign eternally.
