BIBLE READING: John 11:30-35
30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesus wept.
MESSAGE:
One of the most touching moments in the Bible was when Jesus wept at Lazarus’ tomb. It showed His deep compassion as the Son of God who felt human emotions. If Jesus could cry, then it’s okay for us to cry when we feel sad or overwhelmed sometimes. What truly matters, however, is what we do after we cry.
As God’s child, your tears are precious to Him. He doesn’t dismiss them or tell you to ‘get over them. Instead, He draws near to comfort you and guide you toward making the right decisions that will ease your distress. When Jesus saw Mary and Martha weeping over their brother, He wept with them, but He didn’t stop there. He turned their sorrow into joy with a miracle; that’s how much He cares.
Sadly, some people withdraw into isolation or even consider ending their lives when they are overwhelmed by pain or sadness; however, that doesn’t have to be your experience. My dear child, when a difficult situation arises, you don’t have to face it alone. Feel free to cry about it, but make sure you call on Jesus in prayer afterwards. Also, reach out to a godly adult to counsel and guide you through your healing process.
KEY POINT:
Don’t stop at crying when you feel overwhelmed by pain or sadness. Call on Jesus to comfort you.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
LUKE 5:17-39, JOSHUA 19-20
HYMN 5: PASS ME NOT, O GENTLE SAVIOUR
1 Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
Refrain:
Savior, Savior, hear my humble cry;
while on others Thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
2 Let me at a throne of mercy
find a sweet relief,
kneeling there in deep contrition;
help my unbelief. [Refrain]
3 Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;
heal my wounded, broken spirit,
save me by Thy grace. [Refrain]
4 Thou, the Spring of all my comfort,
more than life to me;
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heav’n but Thee? [Refrain]
