READ: James 1:5-8 (KJV)

  1. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
  2. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
  3. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
  4. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 8:26-40, Job 13-15

MESSAGE:

Today’s Bible reading establishes that anyone who doubts will not get anything from God and this is the reason many people don’t experience good things in their lives. Imagine someone who makes a positive confession about his exam results, then all of a sudden becomes afraid a few days to the exam and starts saying he is not sure about his success. That person might eventually fail the exam because he entertained fear in his heart.

My dear, when you doubt Gods ability to do something for or through you, you ma get into trouble. Anyone who doubts is like a sea that is never still. When you take your gaze off Jesus to look at your challenges, you’re likely to sink just like Peter did when he saw the boisterous sea (Matthew 14:30 ). God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all you can ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20 ), hence, you should get rid of any doubt when you pray.

Also, when you hear any good prophecy from a man of God or God Himself, never doubt it so that you don’t become like the aide to the king of Syria who doubted the prophecy of Elisha and didn’t eat of it (2 Kings 7:12 ,17).

ACTION POINT:

Ask God to take away the spirit of doubt from you today.

HYMN: ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus

  1. ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to take him at his word;
    Just to rest upon His promise,
    Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.

CHORUS
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

  1. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to trust His cleansing blood;
    Just in simple faith to plunge me
    ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
  2. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
    just from sin and self to cease;
    just from Jesus simply taking
    life and rest, and joy and peace.
  3. I’m so glad I learn’d to trust Thee,
    Precious Jesus, Saviour, Friend,
    And I know that Thou art with me,
    Wilt be with me to the end.
