READ: Matthew 6:19-21

  1. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
  2. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
  3. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

MESSAGE:

How young people hustle to have followers on social media makes me wonder if it will add to the stars on their crowns or give them additional eternal rewards when this world passes away. I heard of a great sportsman of influence who had millions of followers on instagram but died in a plane crash last year. Only God knows where he is now but I can assure you that he is alone in his destiny; no fan, family member, friend, church member, or pastor accompanied him on that final journey of life.

Sometimes, you have to be unpopular so you won’t get distracted from the right path. As a teenager, it is better that you develop thick muscles to praise or criticism of people especially on social media and focus on God. Although it’s not good to be physically alone, its worse to be abandoned by God. Irrespective of the number of friends you may have, a fellow will still fail if separated from God. This is why you must value your relationship with God and be His friend so that in eternity you will be on a rollercoaster ride with Jesus.

ACTION POINT:

Use your social media platforms to preach about Jesus always

HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You

  1. While passing through this world of sin,
    And others your life shall view,
    Be clean and pure without, within,
    Let others see Jesus in you.

Chorus:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story,
be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

  1. Your life’s a book before their eyes,
    They’re reading it through and through;
    Say, does it point them to the skies,
    Do others see Jesus in you?
  2. What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
    In mansions beyond the blue,
    To find some souls that you have won;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
  3. Then live for Christ both day and night,
    Be faithful, be brave, and true,
    And lead the lost to life and light;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
