17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
MESSAGE
Is it possible for a blessing from God to turn into a curse? Yes. This can happen when a fellow thinks that they are so blessed that they forget that God was the one who blessed them in the first place, just like the children of Israel in today’s Bible reading. If you accept the praises of men for a job well done and do hot acknowledge God, then you have forgotten the source of your success. God did not make you a straight-A’s student for you to think you earned it yourself: it is for God Himself to be glorified.
Prove to God that you have not forgotten Him by putting Him first in all that you do and acknowledging that you didn’t come this far by your strength. Doing this will help you provoke more blessings from Him. Beloved, always remember in your words and actions that it is by the mercies of God that you have all that is in your care now and that you are victorious in all you do. Don’t ever praise yourself or boast about your achievements on social media. When you do that, you are taking God’s glory, and He will not hesitate to bring you down.
