MESSAGE:

During one of the Thanksgiving Services we had several years ago, a woman came in her best attire, sat at the front pew and danced vigorously throughout. Upon my enquiries, I discovered that the week before, her house was robbed and her car stolen. Ordinarily, she should have been depressed about the loss but she received strength to remain joyful and still praised God. One of my sons often said You may have lost something but God is the reason you haven’t lost everything.

Are you going through any unpleasant situation or is your family having a hard time now? I encourage you to say no to depression. Instead, let the well of joy flow from your belly outwardly, knowing fully that God is all-sufficient and He’s got your back. One of the ways to express joy is by praising God through words and songs. When you speak about the God of wonders, the spirit of depression will hear you and run! Praising God in the midst of sorrow is also an act of faith and you know what? God always responds to those who praise Him wholeheartedly.

ACTION POINT

Praise God for the next 20 minutes.

HYMN: ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus

  1. ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to take him at his word;
    Just to rest upon His promise,
    Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.

CHORUS
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

  1. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to trust His cleansing blood;
    Just in simple faith to plunge me
    ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
  2. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
    just from sin and self to cease;
    just from Jesus simply taking
    life and rest, and joy and peace.
  3. I’m so glad I learn’d to trust Thee,
    Precious Jesus, Saviour, Friend,
    And I know that Thou art with me,
    Wilt be with me to the end.
