READ: Isaiah 40:29-31

  1. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
  2. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
  3. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Romans 7:1-25, Psalms 78:1-72

MESSAGE:

The concept of waiting on God is seen as going into a secluded place to make several prayer requests accompanied with fasting. However, during the global lockdown about two years ago, I gave my children a simple but detailed enation on what waiting on God means.

When you visit a five star hotel, a waiter or waitress waits on you to take your orders and makes you comfortable. He/she focuses on you to attend to your food and needs because that’s what he/she is paid to do. He/she also attends to your complaints with smiles and sees to it that you’re satisfied to the fullest. Thus, when you wait on the Lord, it means you are the waiter while He is the Guest. Unfortunately, many Christians think its the other way round; they bombard God with different requests so much that the purpose of waiting is finally defeated.

When you wait on God, offer Him water and His best food which are quality praise and worship. Eulogise Him so well that He would feel good enough to give you a huge tip (blessing). Mind you, a tip (blessing) from God could last a lifetime.

KEY POINT

How well you wait on God will determine if you will be tipped or not.

HYMN: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing

  1. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    Sent from the Saviour above.

CHORUS
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

  1. “There shall be showers of
    blessing,”
    Precious reviving again;
    Over the hills and the valleys,
    Sound of abundance of rain.
  2. “There shall be showers of blessing;”
    Send them upon us, Oh Lord;
    Grant to us now a refreshing,
    Come and now honour Thy Word.
  3. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    Oh, that today they might fall,
    Now as to God we’re confessing,
    Now as on Jesus we call!
  4. “There shall be showers of blessing,”
    If we but trust and obey;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    If we let God have His way.
