TOPIC: Stop The Comparisons [Open Heaven for Teens 6 March 2021]

MEMORISE: I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. – Psalms 139:14

READ: 2 Corinthians 10:12-13

  1. For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

  2. But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 1-2; Mark 11:1-33

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible passage, we see that we don’t need to compare our ability or disability to those of others. If you consider that you have different body parts performing different functions that contribute to the wellbeing of your whole body system, you will be content with your physique, talents and gifts. You are not inferior to your classmates or siblings. Some young people are not comfortable in their dark skin and have given in to bleaching while some who are fair in complexion are tanning to become darker. Some even wish to be of the opposite gender, this is why a male would do surgery to become a female. This is an abomination. Wishing to be someone else is an act of ingratitude. Be comfortable in your skin, be grateful for who God made you.

I tell myself always that I am a unique, beautiful and complete dark woman. God was very detailed when He created me and this is why I will keep encouraging my daughters to glorify God with their bodies. When you focus on your uniqueness, your confidence level will rise every day. You are beautiful and handsome the way you are.

ACTION POINT:

Spend ten minutes to thank God for your uniqueness and every part of your body today.

HYMN 7: Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose
    Hear thy gracious Savior say;
    Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray.
  2. Principalities and power
    Mustering their unseen array
    Wait for the unguarded hours:
    Watch and pray
  3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
    Wear it ever night and day;
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    Watch and pray.
  4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
    Still they mark each warrior’s way;
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    Watch and pray.
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou loves to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word:
    Watch and pray.
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    Watch and pray.
