BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 37-38, Philippians 3:1-21

MESSAGE:

In John 8:12, Jesus introduces Himself as the light of the world. Just as the sun is the physical light of the world, Christ is the spiritual light. Now that He is no longer in the world, those who are His joint heirs become the light here on earth. Light is a very powerful force; when there is light, darkness has no choice than to disappear. However, not all lights can outshine darkness. For instance, the light of the moon is different from that of the sun. If you flick on a torch in the midst of total darkness, you will only see the spot the torch is pointing at.

This is the same with the children of God as light. The volume of the word of God you are exposed to will determine the change you will experience in life and how bright your light will shine is determined by the word of God in you. In other words, you cannot make a great change in your life and the world if you lack the word of God. You cannot shine without the word of God in you; the word is your source of light. How well do you study the word?

KEY POINT:

The amount of the word of God in you determines how brightly you will shine.

HYMN: When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who
    will trust and obey.

CHORUS
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt nor a fear,
    Not a sigh nor a tear,
    Can abide while
    we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief nor a loss,
    Not a frown nor a cross,
    But is blest if we trust and
    obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
    Until all on the altar we lay,
    For the favour He shows,
    For the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust
    and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in
    the way;
    What He says we will do,
    Where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and
    obey.
