BIBLE READING: Psalm 42:1-5 (KJV)
1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
MESSAGE:
Desiring more of God means longing or yearning for more of Him in your life. It involves seeking God with all your heart, staying in His presence to fellowship with Him, and wanting to be like Him. You may know God to a certain extent and have a good relationship with Him, but I want you to realise that you can never get enough of God. Therefore, don’t be satisfied with your current level of intimacy with Him.
My dear child, you must go deeper and rise higher in your relationship with God. Keep seeking and desiring Him more. If you currently pray for one hour daily, consider increasing it to two hours. Likewise, if you read a chapter of the Bible daily, consider increasing it to two chapters. Never get comfortable with the level of your commitment to God. Your desire for prayers, fasting, Bible study, the power of the Holy Spirit, and God’s presence should increase every day.
When you seek and desire more of God, you will grow spiritually and be guided against falling into the enemy’s traps. More importantly, God will be pleased with you when you seek Him with all your heart.
KEY POINT:
You can never get enough of God. Yearn for more of Him.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
MATTHEW 7, GENESIS 20-22
HYMN 7 – I AM THINE O LORD
1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. [Refrain]
3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!
4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
