Topic: Serving With a Perfect Heart

“And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.”-2 Chronicles 25:2

Have you ever wondered how king Amaziah did what was right before God, but not with a perfect heart? I have! Whenever I read this chapter in the Bible, I often wonder how he could be right in all his dealings as a king, rendering his kingly services according to all that the Lord commanded them, and his heart still was not right with God.

That shows that it’s not in what you do per say, but your connectivity, motive and attitude towards your service to God. There are times when you see people render Kingdom service or help to someone and you feel that person does what he or she is doing so perfectly and at times, you even tend to compare yourself, wishing you could be more like that person. You may even wonder why these people have not received visible rewards with all the energy, time and effort kept in service. But I have come to realise that it’s most of the time not in all of this, but in the state of your mind or heart.

Service is essentially a matter of the heart. When your thoughts, intentions and motives are right, then only does your service become acceptable. There are people that render lip or eye service. They tend to be very energetic around others, but when those watchful eyes are gone, they revert to their “true” selves. Some have a habit of complaining and even tend to curse in their heart. Yes, they might be doing what is right but because their hearts are not right and it is therefore not counted as quality service.

You don’t want to be those persons; at least, not anymore.

So today as you seek to serve God in all areas of your life, make your service right in the eye of God by engaging a perfect heart: one void of complains, vain compliments, eye service, vain rewards, or fame. Commit the Holy Spirit to help you achieve your desire for perfect service and as you do, your rewards will not elude you.

Remain Blessed!
