Everything of beauty and glamour requires hard work. Just like every productive garden needs your tilling, planting, watering and nurturing, every marriage needs to be nurtured and cultivated to blossom. Consciously gaining understanding of your spouse, his or her strengths and weaknesses, is one way to nurture your marriage.
Just like every plant would require its own planting technique, every man and woman have special ways you can successfully relate with them to ensure continuous peace. When a man understands the nature of his wife and walks according to that understanding, challenges are less likely to occur. This also goes for the woman and her husband.
Lack of understanding is one of the major causes of challenges in marriages and other relationships. The man must understand that his wife was given to him by God to take care of, while the woman must also accept that her husband must be respected and honoured, if she will get the best out of him. Understanding also entails that you know the temperament of your spouse, accept it and help to correct and/ or reduce to the barest minimum the negative sides, in love.
When you understand all that is necessary about your spouse, you won’t “step on each other’s toes”. Also, it will be much easier to forgive any offences, thereby preventing them from escalating. When understanding is in place, you will practically be walking in love. While you realise that you and your partner are not perfect and may be very different, understanding helps you complement each other perfectly. Marriage is beautiful, but it takes your knowledge about the rudiments to make it work.
