Satisfaction in Marriage – Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Satisfaction in Marriage
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Being married is a wonderful experience. It is a unique relationship ordained by God for a man and a woman; one in which they can give and receive satisfaction for their healthy needs and desires. It involves the joining of two people, spirit, soul and body. However, to attain satisfaction, both parties have to be committed to making their union worthwhile.
Satisfaction is a pleasant feeling you get when you receive something you wanted or when you have done what you have been longing for. It is a feeling, so it emanates from the heart and radiates to all other areas of life. You can tell when a person is satisfied maritally by just observing his or her countenance; especially when around his or her partner. The way they react to people and situations, their smiles and body language, show whether or not they are really happily married.
This feeling is not meant for a few. In fact, God’s original plan is that you be perfected in this aspect of your life. That was why He said: “Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth” (Proverbs 5:18). For both of you to be satisfied all-round, you have to complement each other. You should seek to add value to yourself, help to make your lives better, share one another’s burden and strengthen yourselves in unity.
When you help meet each other’s needs – physically, spiritually, emotionally, sexually and intellectually, it strengthens the bond and increases the love between you two. So, other than seeking what you can gain, prayerfully seek for way to give, in order to positively impart on him or her and build on a more meaningful relationship. This is when you begin to gain the satisfaction you desire because whatsoever you sow, you would reap.
Remain Blessed!
