“Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;”-Hebrews 12:15
There is a testimony of a woman who held her mockers bound for many years. She was angry at them because of all they had said about her issue of barrenness;little did she know that her decision not to forgive them complicated her challenge. One day, she attended a service on fruitfulness, where it was taught that unforgiveness caused more problems than specific challenges themselves ever could.
She thought about how many people she had held captive in Unforgiveness and decided to let it go, wholeheartedly. She took steps to call some of them that day, and told them that she had forgiven them for all they had said about her. That same month, God smiled on her and opened her womb. Today, she has her testimony.
Similarly, bitterness is at the challenge root of so many others. It starts from the very little things and graduates to grudge, bitterness, strife, malice, and determined unforgiveness.
Bitterness makes you fall short of the grace of God and you need grace to excel in life. Prompt forgiveness is therefore the only way to be free from any iota of bitterness. It might not be easy at first to let go, but it gets easier with constant practice. Every successful family rides on the wings of prompt forgiveness and yours must not be different. Make a choice to instantly let go your offenders today and watch how dramatic and fulfilling the outcome would be for your family and life, in general.
