Topic: Maintain Vigilance [Saturday May 2, 2015]

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”-1 Peter 5:8

Being married does not warrant that you relax, fold your hands and just watch how things unfold. It calls for vigilance for you and members of your family. It’s an aspect of your life where your prayers should be intensified, your search of scriptures should be in-depth and your sensitivity be increased.

To be vigilant means to pay careful attention so you can foresee possible danger and tackle them before they become impossible cases. Most times, when people complain about the happenings in their homes, you realise that what they complain about is what could have been avoided if they were vigilant enough in the beginning.

A woman, who complains of her husband’s withdrawal from the home or maybe even infidelity, would have seen the early signs but possibly neglected it. Even the Bible says that while you are busy praying, you should watch! Pay attention to looming loopholes that the devil may want to utilise. Do not overlook the details, especially if it may pose a challenge in the future. It is better to tackle it now, than regret later.

It might be in your character or that of your spouse, it might even be in your communication style, your prayer life or relationship with internal or external members of your family. Wherever any threat might want to creep in from, do not give place to the devil. Do not allow him torment your home. Don’t be too relaxed. Remember, let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. So, maintain maximum vigilance.

Remain Blessed!
