Spiritual Fervency in the Family

Dear Reader,

It is another month and another opportunity to enrich your life on Family Matters. I am devoting this month to you and your relationship with God as a family. It is my prayer that before the end of this month, the Lord will give you a supernatural turn-around testimony in your own family in Jesus’ name! I shall be starting this year’s series of teaching with a very important topic, Spiritual Fervency in the Family.

The main reason for this teaching, is to help you value the need for spiritual fervency. Man is essentially a spirit. He has a soul which is referred to as the mind and that is the seat of wisdom. This man which is a spirit, is housed in a temple that is called the body. It is the temple of a man which is the body that can be seen with the physical eyes. However, for you to be able to relate with God effectively, you must be very conscious of your spirit-man, which is your real self.

I want to say here that most Christians today, often make the mistake of paying so much attention to the physical man at the expense of the real man. However, remember that the real you – your spirit is within and invisible. The real you is your spirit and it is with it that you are able to relate with God, your heavenly Father.

No one else has access to your spirit except you. You are the only one who can know how intense and devout you are in the spirit-man with your Heavenly Father. God is a spirit, the same way you are a spirit. To be able to relate with God, you have to be in the spirit. You must place your spirit-man in the correct perceptive. Your spirit should take priority over your mind and body. More often than not, we place our body first, because that is what we use to contact the physical world around us. The truth is that, before you can fellowship with God and enjoy His presence, you must be conscious of the real you, which is your spirit. It is your spirit that can be in touch with the Heavenly Father and when you relate properly with God, it also reflects in every other areas of your life

What is Spiritual Fervency?

It means to have a strong and sincere connection with God; to be in touch with God, who is your Source of existence and sustainer; being linked up with your heavenly Father from whom you draw power for performance.

The word ‘fervency’ means ‘intense’. Spiritual fervency, therefore, can be defined as intense, strong, sincere and passionate devotion to God. Only you can say your level of devotion to God. How passionate is your devotion to your heavenly Father? Can your devotion to God be said to be intense, strong and sincere? The Word of God says: Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord (Romans 12:11). The truth of the matter is, until your spirit-man is on fire for God, there is no way you can affect or be relevant to the members of your family.

The Word of God says: For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be (Romans 8:6-7). You can’t afford to be carnal in anyway, so, the evil beast does not have access to your life and destiny.

For you to be spiritually fervent, you need to be connected to God by giving your life to Christ. If not you don’t have what it takes to maintain spiritual fervency. You can surrender your life to Christ today and He will give you that power. If you are set for this, please say this prayer:

“Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving me. Now I know I am born again!”

Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, and conselling@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.
