Topic: Ministering in songs [Monday August 31, 2015]

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” –Ephesians 5:19

Pondering on this, I realised that virtually everyone enjoys music. The genre of each one’s preference is what differs. So, when you hear music that appeals to you, you naturally react to it. It could uplift your spirit when broken or even make you rethink your ways; all from some lyrics.

If a song sung by someone you are distant to can have such effect on you, how much more the songs you sing to your spouse and vice versa. Now, I am not referring to the natural composition of songs with instruments, but the conversations you have with your spouse which should be soothing, refreshing and energizing; just as an uplifting song.

As important as communication is in any relationship, it is not just about talking, but speaking right words at the right time, in the right manner, that matters. Just like music is not just about putting words together but the appeal to the audience, your words to your spouse must be appealing.

When you present every conversation with your spouse as soothing music, you realise that there will be less tensions in your home. Majority of times, what causes quarrels and fights is our words. However, when your words are filtered, seasoned and refreshing to the soul, even when it’s intended for correction, it would be received in love; thereby ensuring peace in your home. Communication is a vital component that produces oneness between couples. The better you communicate, the closer you become. Therefore, today, endeavour not just to speak, but to sing most beautifully, to your spouse.

Remain Blessed!
