Topic: Worthy Examples [Sunday July 12, 2015]

“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;”-Titus 2:3

The value of a mother is priceless. Among the many responsibilities and positions she occupies, there’s one that she most importantly must be, if that child would be a success in the future. That is, for a mother to be a role model. Surprisingly, being a role model does not require many words, but actions.

Before I got married, my mother called to my notice how I had never witnessed a fight or quarrel between her and my father since I was born. I learnt not just that but so many other valuable lessons from her that now have moulded me to become the woman and mother that I am today. If she hadn’t been a worthy example, my story might have been very different today.

Being a role model to your children begins by consciously being relevant to your world and the people around you. They should know you for having the strong desire to impact those around you; even those outside your home. This in turn teaches your children not just home values and etiquette, but how to also be responsible to their society.

My husband never stops making reference to the impact his grandmother had on his life. She invested greatly in him, and some of the practices he follows today are those that he learnt from her; ones that have continued to work. Your children are meant to reign on the earth, but without the great contributions of your virtues, it is not as easy a task.

So, be who you are, but let it be what you want to see in your children.

Remain Blessed!
