Topic: Take your Stand [Thursday April 23, 2015]

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”-Daniel 1:8

We have all at one point or the other made resolutions. We have told ourselves maybe in school or at home what we want to achieve, characters to drop and what we should be known for. However, most times, these resolutions don’t take more than three to four months before they are broken. Some people don’t even get part the first few days, before they forget all about what they had proposed to do.

Daniel and his three Hebrew friends made a difference. They took a stand not to defile themselves with the king’s fancy food and wine, and they stood by it. Yes, they would have been mocked and people probably said horrible things about them; regardless, they stood by their decision and at the end of it all, came out victorious. They were 10 times better than all their contemporaries.

You too can be known for something. You can be different from your age mates, those in your environs and even in your church. You can set a standard for yourself; one that will guide you through life. Rules that make you better and stronger in God, and that people will see and admire, such that they would be attracted to Christ.

You don’t need to follow the crowd, so you don’t get lost in it. Those that follow public opinion really don’t have an identity and your destiny is too precious to be hidden. God has deposited so much valuable treasures in you, but you need to take a stand to see them fruitfully utilised. You will not miss it in the name of Jesus!

Remain Blessed!
