Topic: I am Content [Tuesday April 28, 2015]

“For I have learned… to be content” –Philippians 4: 11

While meditating on what to write, a song came to my mind. It is a song we sang while I was much younger. It says that he that is down needs not to be afraid of a fall and he that is high should have no pride in himself. However, the aspect of this song I would like you to consider is this, “I am content with what I have, little be it or more…”

I think that was the mentality of Paul when he wrote this verse of the Bible. Contentment is not a spiritual gift or an emotional high; it is a skill that must be learned. You must discipline yourself to be satisfied at all times with what you have. One thing people fail to understand is that what you have right now and where you are, is someone else’s prayer point.

For instance, someone needs a car and another is praying for legs to even walk for a day. While someone complains about heat, there is someone else, probably in the hospital, who needs just a little of that heat to stay calm. Being content is a great virtue that you must possess. There should be an in-depth feeling of satisfaction in your heart that where you are right now or what you have, is a gift from God and should be appreciated.

Stop complaining about everything, everyone and the issues around you. God Himself, your potential spouse, family, good friends and you yourself, need you at peace. See the good in where you are right now, and more good will come to you. Stay yourself.

Remain Blessed!
