Topic: Who are you? [Tuesday March 31, 2015]

“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” – Mathew 5:5

There is a thin line between self-confidence and pride. While self-confidence is an expression or feeling of certainty that you can do all that God has ordained for you to do through His help, pride is a feeling that you are who you are only via your strength, and not forgetting to brag about it.

Confidence is needed in your adventure through life, but it must never result to pride. Your confidence should be on God the giver of all good and perfect gifts; not on your strength or knowledge. God takes special delight in the meek; one who would always acknowledge Him as the doer of all things.

Meekness is of the heart; just as every other character one exhibits is first conceived in the heart. We live in the world where we have people of humble looks, but proud hearts. However, God does not look at the outward appearance, but at the heart. That is why pride is not just quantified by your actions, but also by your thoughts.

How many times have you said to yourself that you cannot do a particular duty in the office because you feel you are more than that? Or you avoid speaking to a particular person because he or she is not up to your standard? Have you ever been angry within yourself that your neighbour or friend is somewhere higher than you are now, when you are more qualified? Then you must watch it, pride might have just begun setting in. It shows from the seemingly little things we say or do; which when accumulated, could destroy a person.

Today, you much watch out for every seed of pride in you, before it grows to become a tree that would be too hard to cut down. Ask for the help of the Holy Spirit and be sensitive to His reproofs and instruction. You will not be brought down!

Remain Blessed!
