Topic: Building Self-Esteem [Tuesday 8 September, 2015]

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”-Psalm 139:14

Someone said, “There are five billion people in the world, and there are five billion people who struggle with self-esteem.” While this may not be totally true, the fact remains that many men and women in the world today, seem to be struggling with inner feelings of incompleteness, emptiness, self-doubt and self-hatred.

Low self esteem is simply a negative feeling or thought about self. It could be based on what others have said to you, your comparison with your peers and/or societal factors. Whatever the cause may be, it is harmful to your health and worth, and should not be entertained.

The foundation of good self-esteem is love. If your worth must be seen by others, you must love yourself for who you are, what God has made of you and where He is taking you to. The reason people have poor self-esteem is that they do not realise that life is a process, and so they have to walk with the Perfecter of all plans to get to their destination. They envy just anything, and don’t realise that everyone has his or her own ordained path.

You are worth far more than you think. If you only knew your value, you wouldn’t have to deal with low self- esteem issues. You are unique, so you don’t have to be like every other person. If you were, there wouldn’t be anything special about you. Accept that special quality and run with it. People might not see it now, but at the end, when you have done all with all sincerity and gratitude to God, they would celebrate the virtues in you. Build that self-esteem today with the Word of God, prayers and speaking positively to yourself, and it would be worth the effort tomorrow!

Remain Blessed!
