“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” –Proverbs 11:14
There is no one above counsel. God has ordained that at every point in a man’s life, you have a need to increase your knowledge and become sharper through the help of others that have gone ahead of you. However, it is easier and safer if those you receive counsel from are people who have gone through what you are going through right now and have come out victorious. Also, those who are more spiritual than you may be.
Some mistakes in life, ministry and family would be avoided if individuals humble themselves to seek counsel from those who’ve gone ahead of them. Some people feel so proud because they have a ministry and as such, they do not need the input of others to advance any more.
The truth is: You can gain more knowledge in ministry and life through expository studies with such counsellors. You could share ideas, ask questions and rob minds with your mentors when you meet. Remember that for you to see farther, you need to stand on the shoulders of those that have gone ahead of you.
There is always safety when you are surrounded by good counsellors. You avoid the mistakes they may have made, thereby succeeding more than they did, with less effort. So, today, seek good counsel and don’t waste in silence. Relieve yourself from every stress and burden by making this smart choice.
