Topic: Balancing Ministry and Family [Wednesday May 20, 2015]

“Let all things be done decently and in order.”-1 Corinthians 14:40

Ministry is all about service, and to service God acceptably you have to be fully committed to your responsibilities as well as conduct your duties wholeheartedly. However, you need to learn to balance your commitment to Kingdom service and your family’s need for quality time and togetherness so that one does not take from the other.

So many people tend to pick one over the other, which leaves them wanting in that aspect they have neglected or not done enough in. While it is important to serve God with all that is in you, it is also important to ensure that your family is properly cared for and nurtured.

So, to maintain this balance, you must first realize that both aspects of your life are important to you. Have the consciousness that you must excel in both and begin to work at things that would make it easier for you to handle both areas effectively. For instance, you should be able to schedule when your family can be together, not interfering with church activities. Also, learn to involve them in your activities, so they can easily be part of your day.

You can go on evangelism together, draw out church or other event programs with them or take them in for ministerial meetings. That way, they feel involved in what you are doing, while you still serve God in your capacity. Also, try not to use any of these areas as an excuse to default in the other. Rather, seek for divine help to handle both effectively. You have been fully endowed, therefore you must not fail.

Remain Blessed!
