Topic: Be A Person Of Character To be great, you must be a person of character. Character is the will to do what’s right even when it’s hard. Many desire to be the best but lack character, they lack integrity. Lack of character is the reason for crisis. Proverbs 11:3 (KJV) The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. If you want to be fruitful, you have to be faithful. Dignity is a function of integrity. What you are is a function of what you have done where you were before. Personality has the power to open doors but character keeps the door open. Solomon’s birthright and personality took him to the throne but God promised him the throne forever if he walked in integrity. 1 Kings 9:4-5 (KJV) 4 And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: 5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel forever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.Also Read: Guard Your Conscience by David Ibiyeomie
Many want to be the best but are not working on themselves. If you don’t change the source which is you, nothing will change. Matthew 12:33 (KJV) Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything and everything. Many professionals lack character. Never give a promise you can’t keep. When wrong becomes right, conscience has lost its value. Character is what keeps you going when others are no longer recognized. Character is having commitment to a set of values without compromise. It is dedication to a set of standards without wavering. It is having your thoughts, words and actions to flow in line with the word of God. Your character is tested when you are under pressure; that is when you know you have character. It is when integrity, accountability, self-sacrifice, faithfulness, reliability, loyalty and humility becomes more important to you than compromise. Character is the bedrock of anyone who wants to be the best. Don’t say one thing and do another thing!
