Five deputy comptroller generals at customs on Thursday announced that they were leaving the service.

In a joint letter written to the Chairman of the Nigeria Customs Service Board through the Comptroller-General (see above), the officers said they were voluntarily resigning from customs and thanked the president for handing them the opportunity to serve.

The customs has been one of Nigeria’s corruption conduits and new comptroller general, Hameed Ali, has been given the mandate by the president to clean up the place.
