The Kogi State Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi, has disclosed that the decision to shift the earlier scheduled February election was a decision taken by INEC to enable common sense prevail.
Yomi Awoniyi stated this when he received in audience the National PDP Professionals and Business Group, Kogi State chapter who paid him a sensitization visit.

Awoniyi disclosed that the current success the military has made regarding security in it’s fight against insurgency, shows that the postponement was well conceived.

While he appreciated the improvement, INEC has also made in the distribution of PVC’s, the Deputy Governor urged the PDP Professionals to reflect and re-strategize, by coming up with programmes that will ensure that the party maintain its dominance in the State.

Awoniyi urged the members to sustain the sensitization tempo, noting that the party still has challenges because of some of its candidates, but assured of victory for the party in the state.

The Deputy Governor urged the PDP Professionals to ensure that harmony reigns supreme amongst party members, urged them to begin door to door campaign to woo more electorates for the party in the forthcoming election.

While he described Professionals as a critical mast in the activities and growth of any political party, Awoniyi commended the initiative for setting up the PDP Professionals and Business Group, disclosed that it is an uncommon way of making the party remain relevant to the critical segment of the society.

In his remarks, Dr. Idris Omede, State Coordinator of PDP professionals and Business Group, said the body was established with a vision to inspire excellent leadership within and outside the country.

The group, Dr. Omede explained is working assiduously to deliver all PDP candidates in the forthcoming election, disclosing that President Jonathan has done well for Kogi State in the last four years.

While he described the State Deputy Governor as a thorough breed Professional who has used his position to assist in the running of good governance in the state, Dr Omede commended the Deputy Governor for helping to develop the ideals of the party by being loyal and committed to the transformation agenda of Capt Idris Wada.

Highlights of the visit was the decoration of the State Deputy Governor as a patron and presentation of insignia of the PDP Professional and Business Group to Deputy Governor.
