Topic: The Power of Submission! (3)

Dear Reader,

Calvary greetings to you in Jesus’ mighty name. Last week, I taught on submission being a command from God. In the course of that teaching, I explained that there are rewards for obeying God’s command of submission in the home, which has saved so many marriages from heartaches and challenges that many unbelievers’ homes are facing today.

This week, I shall be unveiling ways through which submission can be done; two of which are: Submission “By Your Words” and “In Your Actions!”

The state of your heart automatically determines the words of your mouth. Until submission takes root in your heart, it does not last. You may submit for a little while, but later revert to your former rebellious ways.

Talking about submission by your words, it is important that you carefully consider how you address your husband.  Some women address their husbands rudely, using disparaging words. That’s very wrong! Your choice of words can convey submission, rebellion or indifference.

Words can be correctly used to bring you favour with your spouse. Thus, by speaking right and gracious words, you will draw your husband closer. Without doubt, right words spoken at the right time are of great value (Proverbs 25:11).

A sister bears witness that she had always encountered difficulties in her home, because she could not tame her tongue. Here is her testimony:

“I had always encountered difficulties in my home, because I could not control my tongue. I was so sharp-tongued that anytime my husband wanted to speak or correct me, I would end up quarrelling with him. There was no humility in me, and I knew it was the cause of so many problems in our home.

Coming for the 1994 Women Convention, I decided that I needed a practical solution. As the woman of God ministered, I desired the same spirit of humility and submission at work in her. I then decided that like the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus’ garment and was made whole, I would touch the woman of God and receive my heart’s desire.

After the ministration, I went forward to the altar and embraced Mummy Oyedepo, and she said to me, ‘It is well’.  That was it! All became well with my life and my tongue received a touch. My husband noticed that a new life had emerged in me.”

Your submission to your husband should also reflect in your actions. Often, the problem with many women is that they do not trust their husbands to make the right decision. They keep struggling to make their points, so there is constant strife in the home. I wish women will strive for proofs and not points!

When I was still in the secular employment, I would always kneel down to present my salary to my husband at the end of every month, which is the way it should be in every home. On one such occasion, after presenting my earnings to my husband, God told him to give it all as offering.

Our first son was a baby then, and there was scarcity of baby formula. As a mother, perhaps I would have been justified to question my husband’s decision, but all I said was, “Praise God.” Even if there was money, the baby milk, like other essential commodities, were not available.

Nonetheless, after giving the money as offering, someone drove to our home a few days later, with an offering of 24 cartons of baby milk (without previous discussion)!  What a miracle! If I had contested that decision, we would have missed that miracle, and conceivably gone through a period of hardship.

The key word here is reverence. You reverence your husband by your words and in your actions by trusting his judgment, and decisions, and making his instructions matter to you.

If you are not born again, you don’t have what it takes to submit to your husband in words and in actions. You can only experience this, when you embrace the One who instituted marriage and intended it to be so. Are you ready to surrender your life to Christ as your Lord and Saviour?  If you are, please say this prayer of faith and you shall be born again: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

If you prayed this simple prayer, you are now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.
