Memorise: Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. 1 Peter 2:17

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  1. I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
  2. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
  3. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
  4. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Bible Reading In One Year: Isaiah 22-23; Ephesians 3:1-21

MESSAGE:

Everybody needs prayers. No matter your status or position, you need prayers. I still need prayers and I am grateful for the family, friends and children l have in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, who make it their constant assignment to pray for me. They will never lack anything good in Jesus name.

Today’s Bible passage encourages you to pray for your leaders. It is easy to assume that they have everything figured out, whereas, the opposite is the case. The same way you rely on God for mercy, grace and strength is the same way they also yearn for it. As a child of God, it is your duty to pray for your political and traditional leaders. You should pray for them to be able to lead peacefully and according to the will of God. You should pray for honest men and women in the government, who will put the needs of the masses first, instead of enriching their pockets. You should pray for the Holy Spirit to guide them to lead with the fear of God. It is the fear of God that will guide them when it is time to make national decisions which will affect you and me. When you lift them up in prayers, you strengthen them. That is what God wants you to do.

Prayer Point:

Pray that a heart of service to mankind should be given to every political leader in Nigeria.

Hymn: Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour

  1. Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
    Hear my humble cry;
    While on others Thou art calling,
    Do not pass me by.

Chorus:
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

  1. Let me at Thy throne of mercy
    Find a sweet relief;
    Kneeling there in deep contrition,
    Help my unbelief.
  2. Trusting only in Thy merit,
    Would I seek Thy face;
    Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
    Save me by thy grace.
  3. Thou the spring of all my comfort,
    More than life to me,
    Whom have lon earth beside Thee?
    Whom in heaven but Thee?
